A Glutton For Green
61The first showers come and it’s as though a wizard with myriad shades of green on his magical palette flies by, touching everything he sees to create a green wonderland. How do you describe each shade? Can you really find a name for each and every one of them ranging from the subtlest tinge to a rich, dark hue? All you can do is to look, enjoy, wallow and drink it all in.
Green turns me on. Green fills me up and makes me whole. It’s almost as though summer were made just for this. The heat that builds up makes you thirsty for what you know is going to come. And when it does, it explodes into your vision and your soul, quenching and making you so alive. And your favourite poems bubble up from somewhere deep within to pay homage to the scene that unfolds before you.

Beautiful pictures and quotes, and presentation. Perfect images for me to view before going to sleep. My favorite is the one where Samuel Coleridge's quote is shared. I visualized myself walking up those little steps surrounded by green. Later today (as its the a.m., here in Oregon) my s/o and I will be going to our cabin in the forest do clean up after guests who rent our cabin check, but we will be sorrounded by green and cascading rivers. :)
Have bookmarked this hub - the energy here is pleasant.
nice pictures.
Very beautiful pictures Shalini - thank you for sharing!! I've always associated green with life. Green has always had a calming effect on me.
Needless to say, I feel oh so very calm now, seeing all those lovely green pictures :)
Oh my GOD that is so beautiful
What beautiful photos. Just looking at them makes me relax.
Thank you for this beauty.
Fabulous photos Shalini. I like the Shakespeare quote, particularly the line about finding good in everything. From my window I can see the sunlight filtering through the foilage on the trees and shrubs and I long to be mixing some greens right now. Thank you for the inspiration!
I love green..all hues and shades..
Lovely pictures thank you.
wow great pictures and nice writings. great work and beautiful hub. voting it up and beautiful.
Like I always thought, green is the basic color of life, beautiful.
Beautiful green after the rain, with its clean air and elusive perfume is my favorite too. Thank you for the quotes. They were good for my soul.
A beautiful hub and great pictures about a wonderful world which man is set to destroy.
Green is my favourite colour too...except it doesn't make me wax poetic! :D
Lovely pictures Shal...I'm wallowing in all that lush green-ness! :)
Ah Shalini, this is just the tonic, I was just saying on one of epigramman's hubs how much I love green. Of course, being irish I should really; and this is a wonderful ode to the colour in poetry and image. Cheers')
lovely pictures Shalini, I love the monsoons...the rain makes everything look so fresh and sparkling!
That's the view form your house??? Book me teh house next door :-)) Wonderful!
Hi, this is beautiful and so calming, I love the quotes and the pictures are gorgeous. rated up and everything else! cheers nell
where where where is your home?? i thought goa was green!! beautiful!
Hi,Shalini Kagal, as a fellow follower of nature I admire the work of this hub. The forty shades of green The famous Irish song sums up how many shades there are. Beautiful hub with beautiful photographs.
Looking at green objects, especially foliage, is supposed to be good for the eyes. It is also a very refreshing color to look at. The pictures you have selected are nice too. Thanks Shal. :)
I LOVE this! I grew up where there was scant rainfall. The countryside is not green, except in the town where I was born, which is watered by a continuous spring gurgling up thousands of gallons of water daily and creating an oasis in the semi-desert. As a child, I truly thought heaven was a green place! Now you show us this heavenly green place you call home!!
Of course the poetry and illustrations for it are wonderful too. I loved it all, Shalini!
Ah, so many beautiful green pictures and poem. Such an enjoyment for eyes. Thank you. :)
Shalini, this is so lush and lovely. All the mist and rain and shades of green are good for the soul. I'm so glad I came here just before bed - now I will have sweet dreams. Thank you! :)
I SO want to be in your green, Shalini! And that train passing the waterfall! And...and...all of it.
Thank you for my sweet dreams tonight.
Beautiful, I am currently living in a desert; being from Louisiana where everything is green it is quite the contrast. I enjoyed the pictures a great deal
Beautiful pictures and great poems to complement them. It really quenches the thirst of parched eyes. And it really comes in so many different shades. Great hub. Thanks for posting.
Gorgeous photos, Shalini. Love the rain pouring off the roof, leaving lines of even more shades of green among the trees. Thank you for a refreshing and soothing morning journey.
Wow Shalini this is so awesome. Not only did you feature my favorite color, you included a pair of my favorite birds, Indian ringneck parakeets!
So soothing and lovely. I like the green birds too. I'm in New York City where the last few days we have been in a serious heatwave and it has been over 100 degrees - yikes! We've been advised to stay indoors!
These photos have calmed me down. Mmmmmm.
Thanks for all of them. Whew!
Beauty in green at it's finest. I loved the rushing water falls flowing down beside the train as it passes over the bridge. Even a green bird to match it's background. How lush, fresh and tropical. I could almost feel the heat and moisture all at once. Smell the tropical plants and trees. What a wonderful journey of photography you took me on. Thank you for the share, I would love to be on that train. Peace and hugs.
This is too funny! It is so similar to my idea that it is almost strange, isn't it, haha. Did you take these photos? They are stunning. I also love green, but blue was on my mind that particular day! Have a lovely green summer, Shalini. I have missed your observations for a while now... PS Did you know green is the color most often representing the heart chakra? This suits you!
What a lovely hub! A visual delight! You did this so beautifully Shalini - combining images and verses. I love it!
Thanks for sharing!
God bless!
Lets savour the green
what's left of it
before human greed
turns it all to naught

I love green and smell of earth so much. Thank you for bringing us all more green healing energy.
Shalini - there is nothing so peaceful and hope inspiring as the color green. I love your pictures and the poetry as well. I seem to have fallen in love with green myself. If I paint a room, when we painted the house, if I buy a new shirt - it's all green.
Wow..amazing pics shalini. Rename it as green hub..I felt so nice just by looking at it. I have bookmarked it so that again I can look at those pics and feel peaceful. Thumbs up for a wonderful hub. Cheers!!
