Psoriasis: Bach and Biochemic Remedies

89

By Shalini Kagal

Talk to anyone who suffers fromthis condition and you’ll hear how they’ve tried everything, simply everythingand there’s just no cure. Which is why it would be better to try and accept thefact that psoriasis is very hard, if not impossible, to cure but it can bemanaged. It is up to the person who suffers to decide to choose which option togo with to manage and control this condition.

First, let’s take a look at thecauses. The problem is, no one knows for sure. It’s all a question of whatcould be the cause, never what it is for sure. It could be stress, it could beshock, it could be an allergy. All these could provide the triggers to set offthis condition. Psoriasis is not infectious and it can be controlled – thoughit does require patience and perseverance.

What are the options when itcomes to treating psoriasis? Doctors usually prescribe a topical creamcontaining steroids and while this does control it for a while, it usuallyflares up again once the course is over. One line of treatment that has seengood results is treatment with UV light.

Natural ways to treat psoriasisare exposure to sunlight, drinking a lot of water everyday, doing away withprocessed foods, eating more fruits and vegetables and cutting out or cuttingdown on meats, alcohol and cigarettes. While spices are to be generallyavoided, the spice Turmeric has been found to be very effective in minimizingthe symptoms of psoriasis. Turmeric is available in capsule form if the powderis not available to be added to the food. The oil of avocado is gentle andsoothing when applied to the skin, as is aloe vera gel and warm cabbage leavesare a soothing compress.

The Bach and Biochemic way

Both Bach as well as Biochemicremedies are not really cures – they act like tonics for the mind and the bodyto get the body back into a state of balance for good health. Why should twodifferent lines of treatment be combined? One comes from flowers, the other iscomprised of tissue or cell salts. Well, Bach remedies act on the mind and onfeelings so the emotional and mental states of the person attain a degree ofcalm. Biochemic remedies tackle physical deficiencies and help the body getback into a state of balance on the physical plane. When both areas are dealtwith, healing is usually better.

Let’s take a look at the Bachremedy that is right for this condition. The one to be used is:

Crab Apple

This flower remedy gently buteffectively makes the person accept himself and makes him stop thinking of hiscondition as ‘dirty’. You can buy the Bach flower remedy Crab Apple in theliquid form at your local natural health store or you could order it online. The usual size is a 10 ml glass bottle with a dropper. Now take a litre ofwater and put 2 drops of the liquid in it. Remember to use a glass or astainless steel container for the water, never plastic. Take a few sips fromthis liquid through the day (except at mealtimes) and stretch this litre ofliquid over 4 days – so that’s 250 ml of this liquid a day. Do remember todrink plenty of plain water as well through the day and keep to a simple andnutritious diet.

Now for the Biochemic remedies -you need two of these. They are:

Calcarea Fluor 12x

Kali Sulph 6x

You need to start off by taking 2tablets of Calcarea Fluor and 2 tablets of Kali Sulph, 5 minutes apart, thricea day. That would be morning, afternoon and night. Do remember to make sure youdon’t drink or eat anything for 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after takingthe tablets. (If it is a liquid, us 1 drop in 50 ml of water and take 5 ml as one dose. Store in the refrigerator).

You’ll know in a few days if thisline of treatment is working or not because your skin will start feeling andlooking a lot better. If it does work on you, you’ll need to keep taking it fora long time. After two months, you can reduce the doses to just twice a day –morning and night, supplemented by the Crab Apple enriched water.

Some forms of psoriasis do notrespond to any kind of treatment – however, these gentle remedies have no aftereffects and will not harm you in any way. Most people who suffer from this condition, though, will find relief with these remedies. Here’s hoping you are one ofthem.

This seems to be happening much more in the US - there are so many things affecting us - including toxins in everything and certainly our diet.

I always recommend trying something natural before taking a toxic drug which creates more problems.

Thanks for such an informative hub!

An interesting Hub. There are many conditions that are not cured by keeping calm, but that are easier to manage if one is in a serene frame of mind.

Very informative. I've had this for 30 years or more - there is one cream I've found that really works well and gets rid of most of the 'white scales' - its MG217 and can be found in most pharmacies - it's coal tar based I beleive but really works - it takes a few weeks to work, but after that it only takes a small amount to keep things clear!

Shalini Kagal Hub Author 2 years ago

2patricias - yes, most definitely! Wish more people would understand this.

ajcor - asthma and skin problems seem to be so related - I must go look up the Russian method - it sounds interesting.

SimeyC - coaltar products have apparently been quite successful in dealing with this condition - I'm so glad to hear you have been able to manage yours.

Is psoriasis a dry skin condition? Is it anything like eczema or is it totally different? Thanks for any information you can give me.

Hi Shalini,

I have seen some psoriasis patients treated with biochemic and Homeopathic medicines. These medicines have wonderful effect on this.

However, treating with batch flower medicines is a new idea for me.

Thanks for sharing. Thumbs up!

Excellent Shalini...

Psoriasis is much easier to heal that people think. I would add Kali Phos as well (for nerves)... I regularly use biochemical salts in combination with other homeopathics...and they are really amazing.

Thumbs up.

My father developed this in the late 1940s, when so little was known about this auto-immune disease. It was so bad that he couldn't go in a public pool or to the beach because others were afraid they'd "catch it."
