The Call Of The Timeless

62

By Shalini Kagal

CrisA-inspired

Transient moments in the mind

Elusive, fleeting, slipping out of reach

Wandering into dreams with a whiff

Of something that was

Concrete cantatas can never quite rise

To be the song the universe sings

What must I do to escape this mortal coil

And follow that will o’ the wisp to worlds beyond

Make whole those fragmented bits of memory

That tempt and then slip back

Like an eternal siren’s call

To a cosmic dance.

What wings will take me there

To see what I know full well lies within me

And somewhere there without

I need the wind beneath my wings

To take me past the bars of Time.

Thanks, CrisA

A question indeed. My favorite part:

"Like an eternal siren’s call

To a cosmic dance."

I hear it too. Thank you.

'What must I do to escape this mortal coil..'

Beautiful thought. I guess most of us spend a whole life time to free ourselves from this 'coil'. Thumbs up Shalini.

Shalini,

This is mesmerizing. I wondered what thoughts can be further provoked in relation to the entranced feel I get when I study Cris's image. The results you have here is astounding. Shalini, I am liking this poet in you.

'what must I do to escape this mortal coil' I loved this line, I ponder this thought daily. Again, thank you for writing this. Cris is a DreamCatcher of sorts, isn't he?

Shalini: Just wanted to let you know, your use of "mortal coil" inspired me to use it in an inspirational message and image, I am sending my sister on Sunday which is the 4th anniverary of my 18 year old nephew's passing. Wanted to send her something beautiful, not something sad. I am thinking of sharing either in Hubpages or Squidoo (just discovered Squidoo, it looks cool). Once again, I like the poet in you!

Very beautiful Shalini.

"To be the song the universe sings"

That is the dream which could come true.

This is our potential.

This is why I hunt the darkness to drag monsters into the light.

When we have vanquished them all, we will be the song.

"Soon oh soon the light

Pass within and soothe this endless night

And wait here for you

Our reason to be here

Soon oh soon the time

All we move to gain will reach and calm

Our heart is open

Our reason to be here

Long ago, set into a rhyme

Soon oh soon the light

Ours to shape for all time, ours the right

The sun will lead us

Our reason to be here"

Peggy- thank you - I hope the verse did the image justice!

VioletSun - the phrase is Shakespeare's and I'm sure it will be fitting in an inspirational message - the death of a young one is always so difficult to bear.

CWB - I'm so glad you like it - those lyrics from Gates of Delirium just say it all - thank you. 'Long ago, set to rhyme...' - if only we could go back to that state of harmony - and vibrate to the music of the spheres!

Brilliant poem. I have just loved it. Ill be sending the link of this poems to my friends. Keep it up Shalini.

ColdWarBaby 2 years ago

I think Jon Anderson is really quite brilliant. A bit elliptical at times but brilliant nonetheless.

YES is my favorite of all time. I consider the RELAYER album to be the greatest musical work of the twentieth century. I suppose that statement is really over-the-top since I'm not at all qualified to make it.

I don't care. It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

I believe, if we survive as a species, that we will indeed become the music.

Amazing poem, Shalini. Just as you think you've grasped it, it slips through your fingers like those fragments of a dream that make you think you're recalling a past life, or a parallel life, or even tapping into someone else's life! Beautifully done.
