The Call Of The Timeless
55CrisA-inspired
Transient moments in the mind
Elusive, fleeting, slipping
out of reach
Wandering into dreams with a
whiff
Of something that was
Concrete cantatas can never
quite rise
To be the
song the universe sings
What must
I do to escape this mortal coil
And follow
that will o’ the wisp to worlds beyond
Make whole
those fragmented bits of memory
That tempt
and then slip back
Like an
eternal siren’s call
To a
cosmic dance.
What wings
will take me there
To see
what I know full well lies within me
And
somewhere there without
I need the
wind beneath my wings
To take me past the bars of Time.
Thanks, CrisA

A question indeed. My favorite part:
"Like an eternal siren’s call
To a cosmic dance."
I hear it too. Thank you.
a superb expression of feeling
Truly beautiful and nostalgic
"Make whole those fragmented bits of memory
That tempt and then slip back"
My my that was a powerful phrase to me anyways... Nicely done and CrisA sure has set this place a blaze...:O) Hugs
[Blink, blink.]
Wow. The whole image is rather stunning to me. Beautifully expressed!
Thank you!
I found this poem touching the spiritual part of me, and made me sorta of sigh... Beautiful, Shalini!
"To be the song the universe sings
What must I do to escape this mortal coil
And follow that will o’ the wisp to worlds beyond"
'What must I do to escape this mortal coil..'
Beautiful thought. I guess most of us spend a whole life time to free ourselves from this 'coil'. Thumbs up Shalini.
I love it!!!
Beautifull and inspiring. Thank you.
Sigh...you poets have the edge over the rest of us uninspired hacks!!
Wow, wow and wow Shalini. Just too good. I am no poet nor even a poetry reader but there is something very touching in this.
shalini
this makes me think of what people in the distant past dreamt of. dreams are as timeless as man. thanks for sharing this thought-provoking poetry :D
Shalini,
This is mesmerizing. I wondered what thoughts can be further provoked in relation to the entranced feel I get when I study Cris's image. The results you have here is astounding. Shalini, I am liking this poet in you.
'what must I do to escape this mortal coil' I loved this line, I ponder this thought daily. Again, thank you for writing this. Cris is a DreamCatcher of sorts, isn't he?
Thanks to you and Cris! Nice poem and it goes well with the pic too.
yes, THE TWO CAME TOGETHER VERY NICELY
Hi Salini ,
There's good poetess in u.best wishes!
Congratulations, Shal, you are the poetess of this decade! Wish you well in your future endeavors too!
Cheers!
Nicely done Shalini
Yah, this is great poetry.
'I need the wind beneath my wings
To take me past the bars of time'
Those are my fav lines.
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful job of imagery in your poetry matching Cris A's image. Well done!
Shalini: Just wanted to let you know, your use of "mortal coil" inspired me to use it in an inspirational message and image, I am sending my sister on Sunday which is the 4th anniverary of my 18 year old nephew's passing. Wanted to send her something beautiful, not something sad. I am thinking of sharing either in Hubpages or Squidoo (just discovered Squidoo, it looks cool). Once again, I like the poet in you!
Very beautiful Shalini.
"To be the song the universe sings"
That is the dream which could come true.
This is our potential.
This is why I hunt the darkness to drag monsters into the light.
When we have vanquished them all, we will be the song.
"Soon oh soon the light
Pass within and soothe this endless night
And wait here for you
Our reason to be here
Soon oh soon the time
All we move to gain will reach and calm
Our heart is open
Our reason to be here
Long ago, set into a rhyme
Soon oh soon the light
Ours to shape for all time, ours the right
The sun will lead us
Our reason to be here"
From the album "Relayer" by YES
Brilliant poem. I have just loved it. Ill be sending the link of this poems to my friends. Keep it up Shalini.
I think Jon Anderson is really quite brilliant. A bit elliptical at times but brilliant nonetheless.
YES is my favorite of all time. I consider the RELAYER album to be the greatest musical work of the twentieth century. I suppose that statement is really over-the-top since I'm not at all qualified to make it.
I don't care. It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!
I believe, if we survive as a species, that we will indeed become the music.
Amazing poem, Shalini. Just as you think you've grasped it, it slips through your fingers like those fragments of a dream that make you think you're recalling a past life, or a parallel life, or even tapping into someone else's life! Beautifully done.
Hi Shalini! I agree with G-Ma. That was a powerful line, and a powerful poem! You are a gift!!
Always... wouldn't miss your hubs for the world!
Deeply uplifting, you weild the power of poetry very well and this piece is timeless.
Very lyrical and moving. You are definitely a writer. Thank you for sharing.
I really like your poem.
Very cool poem. I can see the strands of CrisA intertwining throughout the verse. Your poem creates a powerful feeling of wanting to break free and live life with meaning and purpose. I like it.
Wow..awesome read. Bookmarked it.
...perhaps you should call your hubpages 'The Call of the Timeless' because there is a lot of timeless and classic writing - waiting to be found here by your lucky readers ....this piece in particular is the purest expression of poetic prose I have seen in sometime .....
Nothing more to say- your readers have expressed all I felt and more. Collaboration is lovely on many levels!
I enjoyed this poem very much, Shalini. Thank you! Cris is a beautiful soul, I've never known anyone quite like him. I'm sure he is out there somewhere and on to new things now. Still, the loss of him is almost unbearable.
